I personally think that this publication has great value and the proof is in the well-documented actions on engine re-building of a 3.4L motor that I have taken the time and energy to post in here and on my photo-bucket for all members to peruse. But then again, I may fall into the unfortunate category of being one of the many members here who are not as advanced in their thinking and abilities as you purport to be. I would not waste one moment of my time mentioning this opportunity if I really did not believe it had any value.

It would be a much more productive and helpful response from you to post the publications you yourself own instead and would endorse as alternatives to this very basic...but 60* specific engine... re-building tome. I'm sure that rather than read just the negative comments you have rendered, the more advanced portion of our membership would like to benefit from your negative insight and critique on the subject. For something as exotic as many of the engines and mods that require deeper knowledge and other sources of information, I would agree with you...but the clue about what it is meant to do is hidden in the title: It says what it does. Nothing more... Nothing less. This book might just have been written for the many people who have never, ever even backed a bolt out of an engine head who might decide to re-build some of the earlier, hard bitten, hard driven engines that have accumulated too many miles...and to them, this "basic book" would be very helpful.

Besides that, since you hold this publication in such low regard, why not offer yours up for sale here on the forum? There MUST be a market for the book out there somewhere... or the original owners of it would not be asking (and getting) so much money for them all the time. If you don't like the one you own...do yourself and another one of us some good and get rid of it... perhaps to one of the many people I have interacted with in here who have read many, very helpful excerpts from it when they needed help and then commented universally:

"Where can I get that book?!!"

Don't forget to post a list of your reference library...

I have this book, and IMHO, it is pretty useless. Not only does it only cover up to GEN 2 engines, but it just has simple rebuild procedures in it that are not specific whatsoever to the 660 engine. No performance orientated material at all.

As a research and re-build manual, the rare book by Tom Currao called, "How to Re-Build Your GM V-6 60* Engine" occasionally pops up above the horizon on various internet book sales sites... and even eBay or Amazon, from time to time. The problem though is that the sellers' asking prices are always astronomically high... I've seen offerings as high as $348.00 and as low as $14.00 on eBay...which is the one I lucked out finding and grabbed last year.

On behalf of other members though, when I spot this book anywhere out there at a price that might not break your banks...I'll post the data for anyone wanting more than just a Chilton's Book on the V-6 motors we all admire and slave over... Here is a used one being offered for Fifty Bucks + S&H. Good Luck to the the New Owner... hopefully... it will wind up in the hands of one of OUR folks here on 60degreeV6...Somebody ...Grab it while you can!
