those pornos dont go well in the car though, it has to be paperback reading material or a DVD. i suppose a burned DVD should work too though.

I suppose you could spend $50-$200+ on a book, then a gasket set, rings, bearings, machine work and whatnot to rebuild an ancient engine with ancient information from a book published in 1994....

    OR

You could just buy a newer, better performing low mileage engine for $300-$400 and be done with it.

I generally throw away 2.8/3.1 engines. IMHO that is about what they are worth.

I have the 60 Degree V6 rebuild book and it is a very well written book but I agree it is for novice people. But in its day it was the most up to date book out there. Keep in mind the age of the book before you bash it.

Dave....Check with 3400beretta... I have it in good authority that he has one of his own in his library and coincidentally, he too believes it only worthy as "Sht-House Reading"... So, perhaps he'll part with it for a mere bag of shells?

Yes...and here is another good reference from HPBooks on the subject that I pore over to learn new things and try to get it right...(and in my case...sometimes these books let me know that I am about to get into something way over my head or abilities to do in my own garage)... sounds like everything is described using SBC parts, but applies to all engines...

A good and solid recommendation... Thanks. Is it specific to the 60* Engines ...or cover the generic procedurals for across-the board, High Performance-Tuner engine building?

Yes Ben... But you could never be classified as either a novice or inexperienced person on the subject of these engines. I doubt that Tom Currao had someone like you in mind when he penned it. It is definitely not for someone with over ten thousand posts on mechanical matters relating to the GM V-6 engines. But for a new and inexperienced man...it might just be a little encouraging. In lieu of reading this material though...what would you and 3400beretta recommend...from either your library...or his...assuming he has one?
