Help! '94 z24. Rough shift and rough idle.

When i start my car cold or hot it jumps up to about 2000rpms then slowly drops to about 800. It is a very rough 800. When i put the car into gear the rpms drop to 500 and surge back and forth. It has died a few times. The car seems to drive fine, but will not shift when at WOT. Also, if I take my foot off the gas while cruising the rpms start to surge between 500 and 1000 again. Has new IAC valve, EGR valve, and plugs/wires. Any ideas? Greatly appreciated.

The first thing i would do is get the blink codes out of the car. You do this by jumping 2 pins together on the OBD1 port, then key on engine off. this link should help you out. http://www.extreme-check-engine-ligh...%20Decoder.htm
