2.8L MPFI Beretta running problems

I just picked up a Beretta with a 2.8L with a 5spd .. It has been sitting in the cold (up in VT) with half tank of gas for about 3months before I purchased it .. So when I try and start it, its kinda rough, but eventually kicks in .. Its got a leaky fuel filter .. new battery ..

After its running, it will run for about 2mins or so .. then it will just die, and I cant get it started again for 20mins or so .. all it does is turn ..

Im clueless here on what it could be .. Any ideas?!

If its gas related, by putting in starter fluid, will that start it or give me the idea that its fuel related .. Im thinking fuel pump ..
