  • couple of spark plug questions

    i am looking for spark plugs for a 2003 impala with a 3400 in accel and i cant see any listing for them all i see is 96-01 are the all the same or ?
    i called the local carquest and he wanted to sell me platnium plugs but arnt they bad for this motors ?
    btw will the accel plugs listed for the 96-01 3400 work for my 3.1/3400 hybrid ?
    01 olds shilluette 3400/4T65-E stock for now

    The regular spark plug for 3100's (like my 94) will work just fine in the impala, but will wear faster. They now use an expensive dual tipped one that's iridium I think. It lasts longer. Gotta get dual though, not just single.

    If you don't mind changing plugs occasionally, you can get the normal plugs for say a 94 3100 acdelco brand. I've always used them and they work great.

        I'm getting ready to order some ac delco iridiums. They're about 6 bucks a piece. They have a single tip and carry a 100k mile warranty.

          I pulled some plugs from a 2003 impala and it looked to me to be dual tip....

          Our ignitions don't like single tip from what I remember.

            No they are all single electrode single ground. I ran the Iridiums in my truck. But my ignition ate them up and you cannot re gap them properly so I went to standard plugs.

              Right I didn't mean dual ground or whatever, just both the ground and tip are coated.

                  i've got about 40K miles on my single iridium center from NGK. great plugs and still fine!
