#28 injectors on 15psi?

I was afraid running #28 injectors on my 3500 would be too small!

My 24# Denso's would get me to 250hp on a boosted 3.1 according to all the literature I have read.

At 15PSI, twice the fuel would be needed as N/A - (2BAR ). 65# injectors would be a better choice for that situation.

JOHN- You still haven't said if you had a RRFPR (FMU) or not. Raising the FP astrinomically would allow a smaller injector to be used (like the imports do).

OK, enough about the tuning.. Nobody's said anything about real numbers. What i'd like to see is a breakdown of AFR VS RPM. If he's staying in the 11's with the AFR's all the way through boost at WOT then it's possible that the tune was not the cause. the KS will pull timing if it senses knock (unless it's been unplugged). We know it's not the "right" way but what do you think people did before computers? They tuned by smell and feel.

I agree 100%. If this engine was tuned on a dyno (not just to see how much HP), then there would have been a WBo2 hooked up. I want to see the graphs from the dyno .

Check out my cardomain page(montels02) you idiot and you will see much of the same as you have and mine blew up too....why.....tuning...period.............so many of your responces prove you do not know how this shit works...or you would be running right now.......so flappy that..................you had to keep running untuned with no MAF till you blew it up.....AGAIN..............telling yourself you did it right long enough dosnt make it right. Thats funny, your right, all the best equipment in the world with out tunning is crap. i wish I would of been able to install my MAF sooner. I didnt have the couplers or the ls1 MAF, I was in process of getting them. But still my tuning was decent! I stand by that. On the other hand. I apreciate the constructive criticsm.

this brings up the first issue, what fuel were you running? if you say anything lower than 91 no wonder you had detonation with your "tuning"

if you were making over 300hp as claimed then i wouldn't doubt at all that you had fueling issues and prolly ran extremely lean

uhh? why? its not needed with a setup as simple as yours... i highly doubt you have the oil capacity to keep up with the pumps demand

and for a final time, you cant properly tune without a maf and only using a 1 bar map sensor, and on top of that your still only running #28 injectors while trying to push 15psi....

you might have spent a lot of money but you sure didn't do much of anything to make sure your setup would hold together

Another potential contributor to the failure is the cam sprocket retaining design, a single centric bolt leaving the cam sprocket key as the sole safety to prevent slippage. Now take into account the increased load on the cam lobes having to force exhaust valves open against considerably increased combustion pressures and you have an increased risk of pin shear. The earlier cams using 3 bolts to keep the cam sprocket on camshaft only needed the pin to insure you installed the sprocket in the correct position.

This issue is a concern on all boosted engines regarding how large an exhaust valve you should consider using on a boosted engine along with highperformance valve springs without potentially destroying the camshaft. The leverage the crank has through the small sprocket makes it certain that the cam sprocket will turn with or without the camshaft unless the chain jumps or the teeth strip.

Force = mass x acceleration so the higher the rpm's the greater the force on the lobes

There's not enough room for the valve to turn around in the cylinder so I suspect a portion was broken off the stem allowing it to turn around and be stamped into the piston. I have seen this before on a larger engine.

I ran my engine for years on a 1 BAR MAP with 7 psi, but I understood that my computer could not sense the extra boost nor retard the timing in unison with it. I made it work but it was never fully tuned and certainly was not able to perform at its full potential. When you make close to 100 hp/L or more the engine is anything but junk. You made an exceptional accomplishment you just left the finishing touch off.

All any RSM-Z-Spec owners have to do to get their engines running proper is read your word doc.................. and do the exact opposite. You still dont get it and from what I have read.....you really never will.

A long time ago I thought i got insulted when Ben and Manitcor suggested i read a book called "How things Work" on internal combustion engines. After I put my pride away ....I read that book...............I suggest you do the same.

Its a lot cheaper than another motor and you will actually learn something.

I thaught detonation had alot to do with heat...Compressed air..Since im S/C heat is a HUGE problem and Detonation will occur when hot. thats what I ment

Tune right........depends who your asking. but yeah I know they still dont look god for that mileage. im going to make a word doc of all my trial and error. That way next time RSM guy comes along, i can just say......Forget about it, its never going to run right. Heres everything I did and it didnt last. My advice for any 3400 Z-spec buyers is.....Dont buy. Go N/A from milzy.
