I did the same, but at Discount (I know, I know - but I haven't seen cheaper Felpro's anywhere), asked for 1991 2.2 Cavi seals. They were $13 or $15 for a set of 8 (4int/4exh), IIRC they came to $27 for both packs. I didn't mind getting extras since I have a bunch of heads that are going on various cars. 3 packs of seals is enough to do 2 set of heads
.

If you go to Napa they can get you 12 of them.. for a 1991 Cavalier 2.2L (Exhaust valve seals x12)
Moonwell has put a ton of miles on his cammed 3400 w/o any seal problems.

They're better because.. they fit. the 318 seals don't fit the valve stem very tight and let oil past causing exhaust port sludge, excessive carbon buildup in the cyls and smokey startups.
Mine popped off because the springs moved over and hit them, the ones that hadn't been pulled off were just fine.

Dave has issues with them because he used the flat shims and the spring walked enought to het the seals.Originally posted by zofo61 View PostIf they are better...I would love the #, but arnt the 2.2 seals the ones that SuperDave had issues with?. And can someone verify why they are better......might as well debate it before i buy it............Hmmm?
Thanks guys.
Part number in a few minutes, got to finish cooking for our family of 6

Well Dave, thanks for the info. Now that I need to run valve seats instead of the brass shims I'm deffinitely going to buy the Comp Cams springs as I know the LS6 springs will bind with the lift of my cam. Good to find that out now.
And thanks to geldartb for posting the link for the shim/seats.

either place is cool to order from. ive ordered from both and they ship fairly quick so your not waiting forever.
i went with the info on this page from grandamgt.com i need to get off my ass and finish the engine so i an enjoy it.
when i did mine i removed as little as possible and found a socket that fit over the nub thing the valve stem comes up through. i can say one thing theres no way there coming off the head.Last edited by geldartb; 11-04-2007, 07:00 PM.
