The Okuma has been a great machine. I bought it from the '98 IMTS show in Chicago. Part of my reason for buying it was the show special that offered ten options for $1000 and included a "Five to Life" warranty that covered the complete machine for five years and the control for life. Problem is.... with the exception of them replacing a defective START button, they haven't had to come back since. It still holds pretty decent tolerances and I am running 175 pieces now holding +/-.00015 tolerance on diameter. I can't complain about the Excel VMC either as we have never had to call them out on it. We have had a couple of issues with the collapsing way cover on the Z axis but take care of that ourselves.Originally posted by ForcedFirebird View PostNever checked out your site. I like the Okuma you have. We have a Mori Seiki lathe and KitaMura My Center2 vertical mill (open version). And some various manual machines and and old CNC coverted Lagoon for second ops.
You produce some high quality products. I like the TCE logo touch on each
What programs/controllers are you using?
Mori Seikis and KitaMuras are both excellent machines. I use to do some contract programming for Apex-Cooper and they had a few Mori Seikis. Very solid and well made machines.
Thanks... it is hard to find the right balance between quality and price. This is a tough market where price is king. We do take the time to add our logo for a couple of reasons. I think it does add to the looks of the parts and it helps get our name out to the public.
For programming, I use an older version of Teksoft. Picked it up years ago and have used it since. It's fairly good but has it's quirks. I have done a lot of complicated 3D surfacing with it. It's mostly used to create mill programs as I typically hands write the lathe programs. Really should get something newer but hate spending so much money on software.
Part of me would like to have a larger machining center and an older CNC "T-lathe" to retrofit but another part says no way since machining has gotten to be so competitive.MinusOne - 3100 - 4T60E

Ive never seen that site. You make a lot of cool stuff. A couple questions...There is a pic of an engine that has a TB adapter that turns the TB to the pass side. 1-What TB is that? 2-Do you sell that adapter? My CarDomain Site--------The Camaro Song

The shorty headers are made and sold by Killerbv6.com. They are designed for RWD swaps such as MGs.Originally posted by Sidewinder View PostSo who makes those shorty headers? Are they any good?MinusOne - 3100 - 4T60E
