thanks, that was a good link.

How much boost do the stock piston in a 3.4l handle ? as i understand the rod are forgings ?

if i do what i wrote and get 200 hp (230 crank hp ) at the wheel. How much bost does it take to get in the 300 zone ?

With a great tune the pistons should last for a long time. It's the higher rpm's that like to wipe out a cam lobe.

I have about 10 psi on my 3.4 with mild port heads and a 272 crane cam. Its making about 240 whp through a getrag 5 spd in a fiero. Its close to 300 crank but it would probably need another 2-3 psi of boost to make it official.

I am using hypereuctectic pistons. Nothing special, and I have been known to spray a decent amount of nitrous on top of it with no problems either. its not a built motor by anymeans but on the nitrous its probably close to 400 crank hp and its holding up fine. Its all in the tune.

        I have a build thread on www.realfierotech.com.

cit, u can do like im thinking, 3.4 with the 3500 top end, but before i do that, ima boost my stock 2.8 till it goes BOOM.
im also debating on a 5.3l swap.... 303hp out of the box.

I just dyno'd my 3.4 (iron head) and I got 231.4 hp at the wheels! It's a supercharged/ 100% propane engine, running about 11psi. Thats about 295 hp at the crank so it's not too hard to achieve 300.

If his dyno #'s were true, MidnightRiderZ24 did 358hp to the wheels on a 3400 with 9psi.

my boost gauge said 10, the dyno said 9psi. i trust a 30,00 dollar dyno over a $60 gauge.
mind you this wasnt a crazy tune. i did lots more upgrades tuning after this dyno. as long as you know what your doing it isnt hard to make power out of a stock engine.

they must have been manually correcting for the current weather conditions.. usually SAE corrects automatically.

I think that's the name of their Dyno program since it is used several times combined with other terms. Otherwise I would take it to mean; standard temperature and pressure.

Hahahaha like I haven't heard that one before! Propane has higher octane then most racing gas anyway. My timing under full load was way off I think.
