Megasquirt on a TBI 2.8???

Hello to all, and happy thanxgiving!!!

I own a '89 blazer w/ the 2.8 TBI, has a 5.7L throttle body already.

I want to ask if Megasquirt II can run TBI, because im planning on buying it, and wanted to hear the '60 community's feedback.

I will be upgrading to 3400 heads in the future, and wanted to know if it is expandable to convert my engine to DIS and MPFI once I get the head swap going. I ask mainly because of this, but would like to run MS on the ol' TBI before losin iron...

Yup it can run it all you would have to check is that the injector driver can handle the low resistance injecors

It sure can; up to 4 hi-imp, or 1 lo-imp per cylinder...

Taken that it works w/ TBI, will I be able to convert it to MPFI once I get the 3400 top end?

trust me on this, have patience assembling! lol. u can mod it to run gm dis no problem, with a few resistors and jumper wires. easy mod. i cant wait to get mine running on it!

Hahaha, im just daydreaming, but even an itb setup using three tbi units could be mocked up on a custom UIM on the 3400 top end using DIS, how fun would tuning that be? LOL

I can't wait to get mine running too. Sooo very close though. Have to rewire my grounds due to ground offsets messing with my wideband lol.

Good luck on your megasquirt builds guys, and if you get bored enough, you could maybe do a write up for megasquirt setup/tuning, as I have found nothing!

I suppose megasquirt supports coil on plug (COP) ignition coils also???
If so, I would really like to be going this route.

Hey, I just answered my own question, it CAN run COP!

Megasquirt has 2 injector drivers (you can run a dozen high impedence injectors on each) for alternating bank or simultaneous injections (MPFI). SFI won't be available until Megasquirt 3.

as stated u can run up to 12 high ohm injectors on each driver. as for coil NEAR plug, theres a few mods to do, and YES you can run sfi!!! theres a daughter board theres actually a kit on diyautotune. you need to modify like i said and use ms extra, but if you plan on running ignition with MS then you will have the coded loaded already.

That sounds great. I was reading up on the sfi daughter board yesterday, and I figured I should try to get something like that going.
Wouldnt that be sweet

Forgive my newbness, but ive searched near and far for the difference between MPFI and SFI and have not found any clear answers.
