  • 2.8-3.1 Difference?

    I figure since I'm a member of this forum now, I mine as well use it. I'm always hearing people saying ditch the 2.8 and get a 3.1. But honestly, they look the same! Whats the difference? Also. What kind of aftermarket goodies can you put on these things? Can't wait to see how this one goes. Thanks

    same bore but the 3.1 has a longer stroke.


    the longer stroke gains around 10 HP and 20 ft-lbs of TQ, even more depending on the top end used.

      That makes sense. I had to use the old 2.8 lower plenum because the one the motor came with that the bayonet fitting underneath the coolant sensor. The P.O.S broke at the beginning of the threads and I couldn't get it out.
