Well, for 12 of the aforementioned springs and 12 of the specific retainers, its like $90 shipped from GMPD. Not too terribly bad. Just want to make sure again, these springs can be used with stock 3.1L seats, and keepers, right?

yup, ive done it for 2 different engines like that before,
the GMPP springs 12363215 with the STOCK 3.1L MPFI retainers, locks, ect.
the GMPP retainers and locks for those springs dont work with the Aluminum head valves. i have a pic of this retainer on the valve. i should find that..Colin

Does the stock retainer allow for the corect install height? I believe it is 1.7" I thought stock was 1.6.
The retainers should work just fine seeing as all the locks are the exact same. This is coming from iron and first gen aluminum heads though1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

Awesome. Yeah, I noticed on the description for the GMPP retainers, its says for use with 11/32" valves, and 3.1L aluminum head valves are 5/16". Im glad, those springs from GMPP for a set is like $55 shipped, not too bad. Thats what I'll go with, then throw the Comp Cams 1.6s on there with the crane 272....that'll be a shit ton of valve lift, over .500" exhaust!Originally posted by v6h.o.yup, ive done it for 2 different engines like that before,

Yeah, I was just looking at that. The GMPP springs say 1.701in installed height and my chiltons says stock 3.1L installed height is 1.5748in, but the pressure ratings are at the same height, 1.701in, 105lbs for GMPP, and 90lbs for stock.Originally posted by betterthanyouBe sure the installed height on the springs is correct.Robby Whitesell
