  • Cross compatibility question 2.8 V6's

I was just reading a little about the new GM 2.8 DOHC's and saw that they are offering it with a turbo that put's out 245. Now I know that the newer engines are DOHC and 4valves/cyl but my question really is would the turbo setup be compatible with say the PR 2.8's or 3100's? I havent found a whole lot of info on the turbo sytem or a complete description of the new 2.8's but I wonder if they will be offering an aftermarket setup for the non turbo'd nre 2.8's.Anyone have any info on these?

RE: Cross compatibility question 2.8 V6

I doubt it would be compatible, at least the Manifolds and such anyway.

I owuld imagine that the difference between the 2.8 DOHC and the 2.8 OHV would be like the difference between the 3.4 DOHC and 3400. Meaning VERY different.

I guess what I mean is would the turbo itself be a good match for the PR engines of the same size?

I would guess a turbo can be tuned within a certain set of parameters for engines that fit into the specs.

Depending on the application the turbo on the engine, to which, then can be moded to fit any V6 with proper modifications, I would have to guess they have some headroom so the turbo may be a little larger than it really needs to be.
