will a TB from a new 99+ grand am work on my 96 grand am

it will work but the one small thing that you might want to check is the cruise control cable connection, they have changed those over the years.

but you -have- to swap that stuff over. It will work perfectly when you do.

Just take the shaft from the 96 3100 and swap it to the 3400 TB.
To do this, take off the TPS, undo the torx screws in the throttle plate, turn the plate sideways and pull it out. Then using a hammer, tap on the TPS end of the shaft, and it'll come out. Watch a couple of things when doing this. First, don't let the spring come loose and smack your hands.....IT HURTS!
Next, there's a small ring on the end of the shaft that locks it in place....don't loose it when tapping out the shaft.

cant i just change the whole thing out, so i dont have to change stuff?
i was going to get a bigger one any way.

Yes. But the part that connects to the accel cable isn't totally compatable. It will be 56mm still.
