  • will the heads bolt up

will 95 + 3100 heads bolt up to my 92 3.1 with out the upper and lower intake swap?

they bolt up, but the problem lies in that the intake ports dont match to the older intakes, nor do the exhaust manifolds match up to the exh ports...

you must swap all or none.

Can the older intake be ported enough to use? If we gasket match a 3100 gasket to the 3.1 intake, can it be hogged out enough, or is the basic shape too wrong?

I think it is too far off to do safely, but why would you even want to? Any benefits you might see from the newer heads would be negated by the crappy flow inside of the MPFI plenum and manifold. So it would pretty much be useless to take the time and effort to get nothing out of it.

Roller rockers. If I ever have to do head gaskets I could just throw a set of 3100's on there.

no the port height difference between the two designs makes for an improper matching of either configuration, the intake ports have the port height/angle difference, and the exhaust have the "D" shape difference, you cant hog out a mpfi exh manifold to match the "D" shape really. well you could, but there wont be much meat left on the exh manifold...
but then again your not gaining any benefit from using the shit mpfi exh manifolds. the newer gen3 stuff have a better flowing rear exh manifold.
but again like i said, its the intake manifolds that prove the most gain from the top endswap.
