Any body know how much the the stock 3400 can handle? I get conflecting arguments, some say 5lbs, others say 12. Still, others tell me that the engine will take no boost until you put forged pistons in it. I want to know what is the maxiuthe engine can hadle stock and still be driven evryday. Thanks.

RE: Boost.
It all depends on the state of tune and how well you keep your air fuel ratios in check.
Should be able to throw about 9-11 psi at stock pistons with no issues as long as you don't detonate. Detonate and you'll blow out the ring lands in a hurry. to which then some would say "Stock can't take X amount of boost" when really it could but their setup blew it for them.
Safe boost rating again would be about 5-7psi as most would say. As this smaller amount you can squeak by with the A/F ratio being not so optimum.Colin

89jyturbo is running 12 PSIG on a stock 3400 IIRC, and has had no problems.
I have a half cocked plan to put a turbo on my 'Bu when I swap to the 3400 and run 5 PSI......

I believe 89jyturbo was also running alcohol injection with that boost level, though.
