  • 3400 interchange

    Hello,

I need help. I have a 98 Pontiac Trans Sport with a knocking 3400. I was thinking of getting a used engine, but I would like to get a newer one with low mileage. How new can I go and what will I need to change or swap. Thanks for any help. Jimmy

I don't mean to doubt you, but why can't the wrecking yards tell me that? So I can put in an engine as new as an 04 or 05 and all the sensors hook-up fine? Thanks.

There was a change in the ('04??) Rendevous 3400, with the crank trigger wheel.

But other than that, yeah all just bolt in.

The exchange manuals will only allow EXACT same assemblies swap between. Like the EGR mount changes in 2000, so it's not a "direct swap", but swap the upper intake and it is a direct swap, also if there were any internal changes this makes for a different part number, making it "non-interchanable", even though externally they will be the same.

Where are you from? I may be interested in buying your old 3400 from you.
