  • cam replace question

probably a dumb question but is there a way to replace a camshaft without taking the engine out. i thought i saw that someone did it awhile back. think they cut a whole in the side of the car or something.

If you take apart the passenger side wheel well and lower the subframe down like 6-10", then you can take it out the side. But even doing it that way, you have to take the whole topend off for the lifters, as well as disconnect several parts of the wiring harness so you don't rip any of the connectors apart. And then you are stuck working inside the nice open wheel well. Just seems easier to me to take out the engine and do the work on a stand.
