Are you allowed to modify the exhaust manifolds? Opening up the inside of them to free up a little more flow will help as well (since you can't use headers)...
i opened up my exhaust ports on my heads and made my exhaust flanges to 2 1/2 in. or 3 in.and ran pipe out in front of rear tire and i felt a difference. someone told me to paint my exhaust and run it for awhile and cut the pipe right where the paint stops burning off.i guess it has something to do with back pressure.maybe this info. will help him out. oh and ben i have a dvd of our races in pa. if you want i could send you one or maybe anyone else thats interested. remember go fast,be safe!!

Right, 3500 is a PITA to do what you are asking, so just use a 3400 block, or keep the 3100 and upgrade the top end.

there is more to the 3500 block. there is 2 place ( next to the front crank sensor and behind the flywheel) that is written 3.5L
