    I started the teardown today...

So I've got the Z up on some stands. I push a drain pan under her and roll myself under. I pull the oil plug and out comes a big gush of coolant before the oil To top it all off, when I take the oil filter apart, there are metal shavings all over inside, so this block is definitely toast, as is at least 1 of the rods. I found out that the engine was knocking seriously before it died, so I'm assuming spun rod bearing led to seizure then rod failure. Which is what caused the coolant in the oil and the metal in the filter.

Needless to say, I'm gonna need a new block at the very least. Does GM sell 60V6 3.4 DOHC shortblocks? I checked the GM website and the closest thing I could find were pushrod blocks. If not, could anybody recommend a reliable salvage yard that will ship if it's not near central Oklahoma?

Found coolant in the oil and metal in the filter.
Also found a home in the engine compartment for a turbo and intercooler

you could scour ebay, or you could just pick up the phone book and start calling yards. advance sells engines (so they say) but i wouldnt trust one as far as i can throw it (they are heavy so thats like, 1mm) so i'd tear down a new shortblock and check everything if i got one from them.

Where in OK are you located? I'm sure I could think of a couple yards (or areas for the yards) where you could pick up a DOHC.

10051141. i thought, and maybe im just being stupid, that the blocks are the same and that part number should work. its an aluminum block and would be bad-ass if it would work. the part part is the price. nevermind. theres no way i would pay 3 grand for it
