alternator question

can you remove the outer covers off the alternator?

i want them of to bead blast them(well, mainly the front). i removed the reverse torx bolts and the pulley but it only seems to come off a little and seems to bind afterwards.

advice?

I have an alternator from my mom's 95 DOHC sitting there in the garage. Why she never went back for the core is beyond me...
