Something is odd about your car then, because on every W body I have worked on (quite a few) there has been a disconnect on that hose. I don't mean one like the one on the fuel rail, but it is still considered a quick disconnect. All you do is pinch the plastic "ears" sticking out of the pot metal nipple that sticks out of the lower intake.

EDIT: now that I think about it, the ears could have been broken off by someone else because with age they get brittle.

Well, that changes things then. The nipple you speak of with the ears is there. But I just unscrewed it, cause it has the NPT fitting I told you about. So, I guess it could work both ways then. So, there must be an O-ring on the inside of the quick disconnect then, I should check and change that I suppose. But the system seems to be working fine, so the next time I'm in there I will be sure to change it.

You got lucky unscrewing the fitting. Usually there is a 50/50 chance the POS breaks off inside of the lower intake, causing you to remove the intake, and use a screwdriver and hammer to break the rest of it stuck apart very carefully to get it out.

Yep, I've seen that before on core parts. It is a wierd metal, lit pot-metal or something. But I never had a problem so, I'm happy.
