    Timing belt issue.Help please!!!

I have just finished reinstalling my heads after having them rebuilt.

Timing belt is installed and I am trying to time the cams.

Problem is that when i go to turn the engine over to get the rear cams flat it seems to be binding.

Rear cam tool is removed before anyone asks that, and I have the gears on the front loose and free spinning.

What can be causing the resistance????

I removed the rear carrier and inspected the lifters...looks like I have three that are collapsed, so thats prob my problem....

    What yr car?
    my experience with 95 MC...
I would not use the starter to rotate the engine, if that is what you mean by turn it over...
No oil pressure would bind the camshafts in about a minute and a half of idle, don't ask how i know.
Sometimes the lock ring will lock with out the bolt being tight.
    Good luck.
    95 MC Z34 Black
Running strong with new engine, transmission, brakes and suspension.

      Its a 95

I was turning it over by hand...would not attempt with the starter as I was timing the cams.

I believe the problem is what started all of my problems originally.
Found three bad lifters on the rear bank, that are more or less collapsed/siezed that was preventing the cams from turning. So now I have to get new lifters. Trying to decide whether I will go back with OEM and only replace the bad ones, or get a new complete set of aftermarket ones.

Cant believe how much they want for a full set of stockers!!! That is crazy...30-40 a pop.
