No gas gauge, no reverse lights

I can not see to find the problem. The reverse lights are good but they dont come on. And the gas gauge always reads full. Can some one tell me if they are on the same circuit or maybe a fuse or somehting. I checked all the fuses in the car and non seems to be bad. I just want to know before next weekend. I dont want to have to drop the tank, just to find out that it was not the fuel sender. Thanks

Check the fuses on the driver side with a continuity metter and if you dont find a blown check to make shure they are geting power and that the termninals are still live.

I dont see anything on the drivers side fuese pannel that could cause the gauge not to work. I am going to make sure that all the wires are connected for the park/n switch

I would check for problems in the loom running to the back of the car. There is a chance that the wires got pinched or something, especially since the problem you are having has to do with circuits running to the same location.

Humm good point. I will check to see if I cant find a melted wire from the turbo, lol. I ran out of gas today becuase I did not record the amount of miles.

I did a quick check of the ECM/BATT & R/CMPT fuse and they were good. I checked the bulbs and they are good so I am guessing that the gas tank does not need to be droped as well. So how can I check to see if I have a brake in the circuit.

The gas gauge will read WAY past full when the wire TO the sending unit is open; or the tank ground is open.

As the resistance is reduced (by the sending unit), the needle goes toward "Empty". But if the wire or the ground is bad, you have infinite resistance and so the gauge is past full.

I'm not sure a defective fuse will cause this condition.

so you think its the sending unit. When I put the new fuel pump in I had to cut the old connector for the stock pump and put an other one on. I don't think this would cause any problems as all I did was cut, strip and crimp, but I don't know. So basically I either have a bad ground or the sending unit is not reading resistance. This weird because it worked before I took it out.

Take out the crimps, solder the wires and put some heatshink on there. I bet that will solve your problem.

I will do so. But once I have the tank down I will go ahead and just install a new sending unit, since it is only 50$. The only thing is there are 2 designs for the sending unit. Does the 94 have the 1st or 2nd design?
