Idle problems

engine idle is at 1500rpm What would cause this:

First off, why the second post?!?!

Could be several things. Is this even when its warm, or just when its first started and the engine is cold? First thing you need to do is check for vacuum leaks. Get some starter spray and start spraying around gaskets, vacuum tubes and such. If the engine surges, then you've found the area of the leak.

when i start it, engines races up to 2 grand, after it warms up a bit, it won't go below 1500 rpm. i tried to drive it to see if it would idle down but it got worse. I'm thinking it might be th ecm.

If its consistent its probably not the ECM. It's more likely a vacuum leak.
