Wheel speed sensors?

Never heard of a wheel speed sensor. The VSS or vehicle speed sensor is on the tranny.

Wheel speed sensors are for the ABS (there is one on each wheel, hence wheel speed sensor), and I have no idea Shane. If it worked like a CPS, I imagine if you could spin it fast enough you could use a multimeter to check it.

I'd be curious to know the answer to this as well. My ABS light is on and I have a code that reads low voltage. I am not sure if it's the ABS sensor or an alternator problem.

Should be easy enough with a multimeter that can measure frequency.

Maybe even one that measures AC voltage--which should be just about all of 'em. Either way, connect the two test leads and spin the wheel. You better get a frequency reading or an AC voltage that decreases as the speed reduces.

When the right front wheel speed sensor died on my '92, it was a matter of a broken wire right where the wire goes into the molded plastic connector body that then plugs into the sensor itself. Easy enough to SEE if you know where to look.

I used a scan tool to find which wheel sensor was bad; but a multimeter would do that job although it would take more time.

I matched up a plastic connector pigtail from AC Delco; I used A-C Delco P/N PT768 which is also GM P/N 12126499 "Connector". Then I spliced the pigtail into the wiring harness.

Splicing was NOT easy; one wire had corroded about 10 inches into the harness. The other one had corroded all the way back to the inner fender; I had to be VERY thorough with the solder and flux. I wasn't happy about that--but--nearly a year later and it's still working fine.
