        Was your engine still running?

Well, with those clearances it wouldn't.

It actually did still run, it just made a shit load of noise and had a major loss of power. I limped it home after it spun, which was only about a fifteen second drive.

mine made a hell of a noise and was just plain slow due to the knock sensor pulling timing. my started out as a belt chirping type noise, then the motor locked up and i couldn't get it started when i shut if off. i was really pissed and i already had a new motor in the garge so i just hooked up the jumper cables so i would have more amperage and it started to kick over when it started it had a huge knock.

Take a look at this one. The bearing was completely gone, just bits in the pan. I think someone held it to the rev limiter. It looks like the crank melted.

Mine just made a really really really loud ticking, almost a clanking. Similiar to what the lifters would sound like without oil.
