Ignition key lock cylinder 95 lumina

my ignition cylinder seems to be loose its sticks out about a 1/4 if an inch from the column housing and seems to be spring loaded is this normal.

Yes, the lock cylinder does have a spring action, but it should only push in about an eighth of an inch to rotate.
