I am replacing my timing belt in my 94 Z-34. I got the motor tore down and am in the process of putting the new belt on. For the life of me I can't get the cam sprockets loose. After Put the new belt on and the belt looks like it locked in to the sprocket groves. Why do I need to loosen the Cam sprockets? It looks like I can replace the belts with out loosening them.

ok, So I can't get the belt on right with out loosening them. Where do I get a sprocket hold down? Or what can I use in place of a sprocket hold down? -

in order to get the pulleys loose or off you have to use a rubber hammer and tap them off. thats how it is on the 94+Comment

Made mine with 3/4" X 3" Cold drawn flat bar. With that size you can use an intake manifold bolt. I just had a piece laying around. Plus, I wanted no deflection what-so-ever.
