Hi guys, got a new problem. My battery keeps going dead on colder days. Ihave no idea why. I used to think it was my stereo and a bad remote wire, but I pulled my fuse out on my power linie and the damn think was still dead the next morning. No lights were on, nothing open, it just keeps going dead. I don't even have to put a long boost on it to get it to start, its more like I just need to connect it to another battery for a millasecond and everything gets power back. Is this a poor connection somewhere or what?

Bet your battery isn't dead. Bad ground. Battery needs to be grounded to the frame and engine. Remember, the engine is not grounded just because it is metal. (It is mounted in rubber) Check for loose ground straps or a corroded ground.If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

so since I last posted, I have had to boost my car 3 times. Well I shouldn't say boost, if I put one end of a cable on my neg terminal and the other on my frame somewhere, life comes back to my battery, i guess it is a bad ground somewhere, how do I find it now?
I'm no mechanic, so I was thinking of just running a piece of my 1 guage stereo wire from my neg terminal to my frame until I can get it properly fixed on the weekend, this shoulnd't hurt anything should it?-=Danny=-Comment

Hey that's a great idea and a fine upgrade. Plus, while you are at it, I'd run one from the frame to the engine as well. Run it to a lift point or something and bolt it there, try to keep it as shor as possible, you can use an existing bolt too. Just anywhere it won't interfere with belts or be close to excess heat. Also, be sure to leave enough slack for the engine movement.

try another battery for awhile as a test. Sounds like the battery might be going bad.2004 Grand Am GT 3400 ... I had the right to remain silent, I just didn't have the ability.(Ron White)Comment
