I replaced the timing belt this weekend and when I started the engine it had a rough idle. I didn't use the hold down tools, but used the original marks on the cam gears. I also lined up the flats, which were real close to the original yellow marks on the cam gears. I have a 95 Z-34, with 114,000 on it. Change the plug wires while I was at it too. Recently had the intake manifold gasket take a dump so changed it too. Engine has good powera and acceleration when driving but a rough idle. When under load, ie A/C turned on it gets even rougher at idle.

WARNING: You are about to get a big ass reaming about usuing the stock timing marks so be ready. Ill start, never use those marks unless you make them yourself and alawys use the hold down tools. that is whats making your car ilde rough.92 Lumina euro 3.4 DOHC 139,XXX miles

I thought so, but wanted to get another opinion. Also, I need an ass kicking instead. The hold down tools look easy enough to make too. Damnit to hell!!!!

Have one ordered from Advance Auto, be here tomorrow. But still gonna tear down engine and set timing with the hold down tools that are being made by my neighbor at work. Great forum, wish I had found it before I started though.1995 Monte Carlo Z-34 with 141,000 miles
