    could i swap a tgp bottom end/ecu onto a dohc?

    if not, at the stock psi-can the stock bottom end hold up to the stock amount of psi that the computer is tuned for if i hooked everything else up & got the proper gaskets/intercooler/large fuel pump? im getting ready to purchase a 3.1 tgp engine & i saw the 91 gtp 5 speed 3.4 turbo & got an idea-if i adapted my own intake tubing & such-would this work? if not what would need modded?

    You can't put DOHC heads on a pushrod block.

      i actually just meant the crank & rods-ive already had one thread closed because of me asking that question, so trust me i know better. about what about the cranks-what are the key differences & could a pushrod crank be modded to use in the dohc or is it better to just put new forged rods/pistons in the dohc?

        As far as I know (or remember off the top of my head), the DOHC and pushrod engines share the same crank.

          thats what ive always thought-but how does it drive the cams if the crank wasnt designed for dohc? also, just out of curiousity (i REALLY doubt this one), IF the pushrod cranks will swap right in, will 4.3/3.8/any other gm v6 cranks fit? i dont figure as much due to cylinder spacing & things of that nature, but if i dont ask i will never know-and i just cant have that!!

            i just thought it would be nice to throw a 4.3 crank in a 3.4 & make it a 3.6dohc

            and by nice, i mean righteously kickass.

              I would not expect anything to swap... nor would i want too.. why are you looking into forged internals? TimG, My self and a ton of DOHC guys are boosted with stock internal, they are plenty strong... TimG has custom Forged pistions made from i think JE and they where $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ as are his custom rods...

                to answer your question about how everything is driven, the crank in the 3.4 DOHC has a TIMING CHAIN that is located under the front cover. The TIMING CHAIN is connected to a shaft that drives the oil pump (it is basically a dummy camshaft where the stock 3.1 MPFI and 3100 camshaft goes), and that goes through the timing cover to run the TIMING BELT that turns the cams.

                I think I have a pic somewhere of a 3.4 DOHC with the timing belt cover off.
