How big/what kind is the filter on the other side?

The mouth of my TB is 4" (the plate iteself is about 3" - it is 75mm)and I currently have a plumbing adapter that reduces it to 3" with to mate it to a 3" tube and cone filter. Other than being a WAI this also creates a low pressure area right before the TB which is prolly detrimental. Ideally I want a 4" filter/tube leading to the 4" TB mouth, which tapers down to 3" - creating a high pressure area, less turbulence and hopefully better flow.

I've been thinking about making a CAI, the battery is already in the trunk so I have the space, but I'd want to use a 4" tube and filter to match the mouth of my TB. I'm concerned about what size filter I can reasonably fit in there. THe only thing I can think of is the 'mushroom' kind that is basically a foam filter with a plastic undercarriage to retain its shape. A regular 'cone' filter will be too tall to fit between the inner/outer fender area.

My filter is an APC short cone filter. Same structure as the normal sized cone filters, but shorter. It is a 3"-4" inlet with rubber rings that adjust the size. It is short enough that it doesnt have to turn down to fit in the fender. The couplers are APC 3" rubber couplers that came with the clamps. I got both the filter and the couplers at Advance auto. 25 bucks for the filter and 13 bucks for each coupler. I just used 3" steel tubing for the extention and painted it black. I made my own fender block off with a piece of the 3" tubing and some sheet metal.
