2000 Impala- Back doors dont open

Hey i bought my car with both rear door handles broken off, the problem is, they dont open from the inside either! Its like they inside handles are stuck and the locks dont feel right.... I want to replace the outer handles but was wondering why they dont open from the inside? I was told the back door handles were ripped off when the car was vandalized before i bought it. any help appreciated!!! Thanks

child saftey locks maybe? that's a toughy.....

child safety would make it so you wouldnt be able to open from the inside think about it.

maybe the rod connected to the handle from the latch isnt hooked up or bent or hooked up wrong. or they hooked the rod for the inside latch to the outside latch, maybe something is backwards or broken from the vandals.

Yeah might be child locks. Might have to pull rear seat, side trim (b, and c pillar) to be able to pull the door panel off from the inside. Then you could probably open it and repair it at the same time.

im pretty sure i could get the door panels off, hopefully i could find somewhere to pop the latch open, replace the outer handles and see what the deal is, the kid who owned it before me didnt have any kids and all my buddys remember the back doors always working... people have to climb over my front seats it sucks!! thanks

when the vandalized it it could have pulled the child lock so that its locked.

if theres no door handles see if you can grab the metal rod for the latch with a pair of plyers. other than that you'll have to pop the door panel off.
