Beware: Cheap AC Delco Filters now

Noticed this when the old filter didn't fit in the new box..... Almost 1/2" shorter.

Looked inside with a light (at the store I looked because I heard that they were having plastic parts now, which I couldn't tell in the store, didn't think to use my high power cree xr-e AAA light, was in a hurry) and what do you know, the filter is held in place with plastic supports, instead of a big metal core... Well I guess it will flow better....

Put it on since that's all I had and I had to get the car going for work... Hope it lasts 3k...

Oh and that valvoline max life is good stuff. Motor feels just as good as fresh oil when it was time to change. Normally I can feel a little vibration more in the motor when it's time to change... And it even feels really slick/gooey/hard to describe. But wiping it off things is a lot harder than with normal oil. I can't grip something and get my fingers down the item... The oil stays between my fingers and the item coated well... Nice.

I got raped on the price though, went up 4 bucks since the other day I was there. Damnit.

Old and new filters had #'s on them.

I stopped buying AC delco filters last oil change. I noticed surface rust happening and it's only been 2000 MILES! Forget that poop!

M1 or WIX, hope those dont catch on to the cheaper metals and inner designs. :sigh:

I think that Napa Gold filters are made by WIX also, and are good.

            Orielly's have anti-drain back valve?

The other PF52 is going back to walmart. Crap pisses me off. $3.50 for a cheap ass filter no thanks. The purolators are good but I don't get the gold ones cause that grip texture sand is sprayed all over the rubber gasket and inside. F-that.

And whats with the shorter case? I mean really, plastic insides is one thing, but shorter case to save even more on metal? come on!! What's next not painting them?

Next will be using non processed toilet paper rolls and newspapers for internals and crushed old honda sheet metal used from the confiscated street racing.

NAPA Gold is a WIX filter.

Surprised this hasn't been posted. Yeah it's alot of reading, but if your picky about oil filters, it's worth it.

Read that years ago... I just worry about the e-core coming apart or not filtering... And it still pisses me off they made it shorter, which if you read the e-core.pdf they say shortening the filter is in line with OEM's goals to make cars lighter for mileage or something... BS how is that going to make a damn bit of difference in the weight of a vehicle... Last I checked OEM's make cars heavier by about 100-200 lbs a year... Hell cars that weighed 3000lbs or less now weigh 4500lbs...

I was watching Powerblock on Spike over the weekend and saw the "in show infomercial" for Royal Purple's new line of oil filters.

They sound pretty impressive, but I haven't seen any pricing on them as yet.

Besides I'm still mad at them for discontinuing the 0W30, and I'm using Mobil 1 now.

                        Who makes Mobil 1 filters?

i've always run a k&n gold class filter. It's pricey but seems to be of very good quality. I wouldn't want to use a filter with a plastic core...
