    where does this wire go?

I have 2000 chev impala with 3.8 L series II , started misfiring #6 and i took the cover off and noted this wire. does anyone knows where it plugs in? (wire is pointed with red arrow).

Secondly, my major prob is that # 6 is misfiring, code which comes is P0306 # 6 misfire. i changes spark plugs, checked wires, coils all are good. engine light is on and starts blinking when i drive it. car runs well and gets smooth as it passes 60kmphs. ideling is rough. exaust gives rough sound. compression test on #6 reads zero.
    thanks in advance

I think that plugs into the alternator

i also suspected that, but found that there is another bunch of wires already pluged into alternator

I have seen it before on several 3.8(K) powered vehicles, unused connector. You have zero compression on #6, check the rocker arms first, you may have broken a rocker mount or bolt.

If you ain't rock and roll, you must be driving a Honda

thanks foero, i opened the rocker cover and found some new things (i got this car from someone with #6 already misfiring hoping to fix it) There was no lifter spring on this valve (in the pic). rocker arm is in good condition but the pushrod was bent ! i took some photos for you guys.
          1) why did the pushrod bend ?
          2) does the valve moves up and down a bit in this position(this i tried moving and it was jamed.) does that means the valve is bent ?
          3) is that green thing a valve seal? is it in good condition?

          thanks in advance

Somebody "floated" the valves is my guess. Did you find the spring or retainer? In either case, this is looking very much like a cylinder head removal job. Good luck and we are with you if you have questions.

              1) Because of mechanical failure
              2) Yes, the valves move up and down, most likely yes
              3) Yes, that is teh valve seal, no it looks damaged.

I would suspect you'll be into more than just replacing the head, since there is very likely damage to the piston. Sometimes and depending on how comfortable you are with running a damaged piston you can get away with leaving a damaged piston in place, as long as there are no holes, or the damage isn't severe.

Just remove sharp edges where valves made dents if they aren't too bad. Otherwise you get hot spots which can cause detonation. A sand paper flap wheel in a dremel works well for this.
