    It Broke!!

94 Cutty finally pissed me off. I bragged about keeping the door handles smooth and greased. I guess I fucked up. Drivers door handle assy.,.......... is in my lap! Don't guess anyone has one? Thanx to GM for a POS! Make a nice car and throw junk in it.

Weird. My L body has what should be the same handles.......173k and 15 years later and not a problem. They have them on ebay cheap for Berettas, so maybe they are different then the W body?

The Beretta and W-Body have the same handles AFAIK. I was the same way until mine broke off one cold morning. The aftermarket one I got (like $30 I think on ebay) says that it has been redesigned to fix the breaking, but who knows. As long as it lasts as long as the last one, I think I'll be fine.

thats wierd, i think gm cars are just made like that, i went to open my j-body and the spring broke on the underside of the handle, kinda give my fingers a suprize. the handle is still attached, and operates. but isnt held snuggly in place, just sort of flops around. ratles. i think i'll get some chrome ones from a s-10...

the L and W body handles are definitely NOT the same. they look close, but if you really pay attention they're very different.

On Brads suggestion, a quick E Bay search and here it is. This appears to be an on-going auction. I remember when these used to cost 70 bucks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33648

Got the new door handle assy. today. The piece that broke on the original is actually close to .075" thicker on this one. And it is an exact fit. I'll probably buy the other side too. Goes in my book of "Good Products".

I am almost certain that the aftermarket part is manufactured by the same sourse as the GM one. The only difference i found was the GM part number, the castings were the same.

every time i see someone at yard pulling a W body or L body handle i always question application as they are not compatible.
