    2nd gear start switch

I was looking through ebay and I came across a '96 Grand Prix with a "2nd gear start switch". What is this used for? I mean, what would you want to start in second gear for? I've never heard of this.

Several GM automotics have it. If you put the selector in second it will make the tranny launch in second. Good for winter and wet weather conditions where torque to the pavement needs to be limited.

Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW . I thought they ment the car would start-up in second gear, which made absolutely no sense to me. Pulling out in 2nd makes more sense.
