    Ford Taurus Trans Questions.

Right now my mom has a 1991 Ford Taurus with the Pushrod 3.0L and a automatic trans. Well the Trans has gone out on it and needs to be repaired. Since the trans is already messed up and I have wanted to try and rebuild one I thought why not rebuild this one myself. I went looking for rebuild kits and to see if anybody had done one, but no luck. I found some rebuild kits, but they were all from shady looking companys and none of them agreed on which trans was in the car.

I have heard its the AXOD-E and also the AXOD. Anybody know for sure? I would also like some to know if anybody has done this before, and where to get the best kits and maybe some mods to make it last longer?

    Thanks!

Over $12K invested, and still its slow. Maybe thats because thats most all repairs. Don\'t knock the engine though, because thats the only part that has seemed to last.

look at the tranny real good, since you'll need a book for this anyways, it should tell you where the id is. and there is a good chance that the "E" would designate an electronic controled version. so if there isnt a connector going in, thers probly no "E" involved.
