Gate night=hell night=mischief night=who knows what else. Usually falls on the Friday before Halloween, or sometimes the night before. We had lots of corn fields around my house, and when we were kids, would throw shelled corn at cars driving by, or soap windows, tp trees, never anything destructive. It was always ignored on that night, even by the cops, unless you started wrecking stuff...

Around here it used to be called moving night because kids would go out and move your garbage cans and stuff to neigbors yards and soap windows on cars.
