yea i think the cable needs adjustment.

as for mine she shifts aorund 6200rpms.
but yea his car is pretty stright..beside's needing pimp my ride.
    the engine is pretty good
Ya my 3.1 took a 3.8 Delta. Pretty good if ya ask me (same car as bonneville).
But I was just surprised at how EASIlLY it pulled that lumina

But how does the cable magically come out of adjustment to make it shift at 7k?

SSE's are nice. But if you are going luxory, it's SSEI or nothing

And yes, it's REDICULOUS to have to remove the bloody mount to change the belt

Ya man I picked up my '93 Sunbird up yesterday. 237k on the ticker, and this is the fastest 3.1 I've owned. In fact, this thing would assrape my supercharged bonneville SSEI i think. You hit it with this thing in fifth gear, and it just takes off. Very sweet car. You'd never guessed it had that many miles either.
Oh and it like to torque steer into second
Good news though! I raced my Fiance's lumina today, and while my '91 GP SE was DEAD even with it (with a friend in my car), this car completely RAPED that lumina left to right. (btw.. this lumina has the same 3.1 rated at 140hp, but it only has 108k miles on it )
But 7k rpm shifting is NOT right. What the HECK happened there???

i was telling my friend who has a 90 gp se 3.1 about ya.
he was surprised...and with that story it convinced him to keep his car.

but uh yea apparantly they're pretty tough becuase his tranny is out of adjustment.

i took off and it went all the way 7,000rpms i was like oh shit.
he was like yea it's been doing that awhile.

today my car has been ranned...still gonna continue.
i think it's more of an electrical thing.

Oh ok that's what I thought. Heck ya they last forever too, though I have PERSONAL EXPERIENCE with three Pontiacs.. one with 128k miles, one with 240k miles, and my current one with 154k miles. They work. Plus, i am picking up a 236k mile Sunbird. Yep I am picking one up. That's how much I trust them. They last.
3100's last just as good, but I dont have any PERSONAL experience with them

Ya the 4t60e is controlled by the PCM.

And yes the 3100's AND 3.1's are fantastic motors. They have their stupid little flaws, but are fantastic imo.

the vacuum thingy is a vacuum modulator, it lets the transmission know what kind of load the engine is on so that the trans acts accordingly, it has the same function as a TV cable from older cars.

Yours is a vacuum controlled, so you can do the TV cable adjustment.
