    water injection?

I want to run a water injection set up on my Grand prix but I cant find anything on how to make one. I'm mostly just concerned about how its injected, the rest is easy.

    can anyone help me out?

also i was reading that its better to use windshiled washer fluid instead of water cause it has methanol in it, so I might just tap into the side of my washer fluid jug, lol

    thanks

Ebay usually has an economy kit for under $200 that would be a better option than building one.

Well if you try to make your pistons learn how to swim, then yes water will seize an engine. Water injection sprays a small amount of water into the intake to help cool cylinder temps and help reduce knock.

DevilsOwn has a kit for $200. Includes everything you need but a tank as they assume your going to use your washer tank unless you buy a separete tank. I have a kit sitting here to install on my car but its looking like its gonna be a LONG while before it goes on, if ever

and yes washer fluid works wonders for this kind of thing.

now that link seems like a scam to me, just like that tornado air intake lol. but i do understand how water injection works now.

does it really improve performance signifigantly though?

I didn't get to deep in that article, Rachels legs got in the way. One things for sure, if it sounds to good to be true, it is.

Water injection will only help you if there is a need for it, such as in boarderline high compression engines on the brink of detonation which it would be a bad solution for since the situation is permanent requiring appropriate fuel type instead and more practically turbocharging for added safety when you want to increase boost pressure on an engine to a level that would be dangerously close to the detonation zone or actually in it.

So it doesn't increase power itself, it facilitates the changes that increase power but also come with a detonation risk.

If using methanol there will be a slight power increase from what I hear. The main advantage as said is to help prevent detonation which in turn allow more boost/timing to be ran thus making more power. I know I bought mine for the added safety to help keep the cyl. cools, especially #s 5 and 6

                        Cheap water/meth injection...

have a look .. i was sucking out of a ara sol can cap it was full of washer fluid. takes less than 30 sec to suck it dry using this vacuum. this would be installed in the air duct before the throttle plate and it would just sit in it ( maybe i will tap a hole so it could be bolted in ) and...

thats an interesting link but it dosent help me out much since im running an intercooler.
I'm mostly just wanting to know what people use to inject the water into the intake manifold. is it and injector kind of deal like a fuel injector or what? I was thinking of just a nossle like in the link above but my manifold is under boost so that wouldnt work out at all, lol

As mentioned in that thread if you run a line to the feed bottle to keep it presurized the same as the intake, it should still function.

That's a pretty creative design in the video but I believe it's a bit risky considering water/meth injection gives you a good bit of boost increase without detonation so much so that if for some reason the mist doesn't flow under boost you are sure to see severe enough detonation to possibly damage the engine before you can get off the accelerator pedal.

Attached is a good read on water injection as well as the different mixes and associated temp drops. Stock Buick Regals were running boost in the 20-22 psi range using water/meth injection where they would otherwise have detonation around 14 psi so it's very effective.
