    Afterburner for Turbo WOT?

I'm not trying this on my car but it is an idea I am interested in for a serious track car.

Inject a special fuel mix in the exhaust manifold before the turbo charger and a sparking device to ignite it.

A freaking afterburner application! Just like a military jet engine.

It would really spin up the turbo big time. Only question is how we keep the exhaust and turbo cool enough. Maybe have it kick in during WOT only and monitor with exhaust temp gauge.

I really think that could work out well. Anyone done this before?

I know it would seriously increase turbo spool.

It's called antilag and can be done with tuning

Basically you make the car miss-fire and dump some burning fuel in the exhaust.

    It's very hard on valves...

ehh, I knew there had to be a reason it hasn't been done yet. I've seen a video where a guy converted a typical turbocharger into a jet engine. Really cool stuff.

The resulting pressure waves from combustion had dawned on me just as I hit post.

How do you think turbo rice boys get the flame out the tail pipe when they shift? Just be careful with it.

that car sounded SO AWESOME!!! i tink i wont 1 nao!!!1!!!1!1!!!11

retard timing, and give the PE fuel table a LOT of fuel to deal with at lower RPMs: easy anti-lag...

Rally cars have made good use of the misfiring system. Makes that popping noise when they lift off the gas.

i have a friend with a rev limiter on his Skyline, it basically shuts the spark off so the engine CANT rev up, but it backfires and shoots flames out the tail pipes and shit! haha its so cool

You really need it at your launching RPM's though.

Schmieder has a GP with 3100(and soon to be turbo'd), so i'd say anything more than a 3K RPM launch in going to result in ridiculous amounts of tire smoke anyways...

so ~3500-4000 RPM and less PE fueling and spark at say 9:1 AFR and ~9* of spark or less should do pretty well
