    did i pick the right turbo?

    i just bought an AiReaserch M1*(either a 0 or a backwards c)(i belive it is simillar to a t3)turbo.i gotta couple questions....
    how much shaft play is normal?????
    i am gonna be runnin 6-8 PSI on a 3100 this turbo wont ahve a spooling problem will it???
    i swear...if one more person asks me how to open the fricken doors on my beretta......

    Saying that you have a turbo similar to a T3 is kinda vague. We need to know what the A/Rs are?? They will be cast into both the compressor housing and the turbine housing. An example would be a .80 compressor A/R and a .63 turbine A/R. Generally, the bigger the number the later is will spool.

    Some shaft play is fine from side to side as long as the wheels don't contact the housings.

    I really strongly suggest that you buy Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost". All of this stuff is covered in that book.

        its a very common book ,however dont forget that he likes long road racing... he loves the air to air intercooler, and really bashes the air to water, and water injection and they are proven sources of cooling boost down..

          Umm, maybe you have a different copy than I do, but Corky goes into great detail and actually suggests the air-water IC, for the applications where it is needed.

          Water injection is not used to cool the charge, the theory behind it is for octane reasons, but it is used more for band-aid reasons than proper reasons.
