    Need Help Resistor Size?!?

quick question, what size resistor would i need to drop a 1.6v signal to a 1.3v signal????

V=I^2*R therefore it really depends on the current involved. You'd think being an ex-electronics technician (and current electrical designer), I'd be able to figure this out relatively quickly... Depending on what its for, your best bet might be to just get a rheostat (ie, variable resistor) and adjust it until you get the voltage you desire.

Use a diode, then current doesn't matter
Okay now, that's enough of that.

current involved is from a car's electrical system. they sell rheostat's at radioshack?

          1) That's not an answer. A correct answer would have been like "0.1 amps"

          2) You can easily overload variable resistors and let the smoke out.

          3) You haven't mentioned what you're trying to do.

Before you burn your car down, why don't you let us in on the secret?

            I believe you mean V = I*R unless your talking about power then its P = I^2*R.

As for turning 1.6 VDC into 1.3 VDC I would need to know your load impedance.

I was tired and I listened to my wife... So I blame her. But yes, V=I*R...

And you had to go and bring impeadance into the discussion... Unfortunately, I don't think it will be as simple and easy as dohcfiend was hoping it would be.

i bought a potentiometer and it done the job nicely. yeah sure, burn the car down with less than 2 volts. that's funny.

i doubt my secret will benefit any1 else but if u must know the idle was a little high b/c the signal coming out of the northstar tps was a little higher than the stock tps. kind of strange that the ecu didn't compensate.

i had the northstar tb on an obd 1.5 ecu be4 and it did nicely. maybe due to the modded chip or the older 5 spd ecu or something, it wouldn't compensate and i had to drop the signal down for it.

                        tps not adjustable ?
                        elongate holes ?
whats your wot voltage now ?

Did you try unplugging the computer? That's all it takes to reset the learned TPS value

Like sil says, you want to check the WOT value too

my car is getting an exhaust now. after it gets back i will get the values for you guys. off the top of my head, the last time i measured it was around 4.0-4.5v for WOT
