I'm in the pre-swap stage of stuffing an '02 3100 engine into a 4x4 with a manual transmission. Initially, I was planning on building and running a MegaSquirt computer, but after reading some posts here, I may go for an old computer and wiring harness.
Which donor vehicles would you guys recommend for pulling a computer and wiring harness (I'm a lazy bastard so the easiest would be preferable). Also, it would be preferable to pull a computer that I can purchase a pre-programmed chip for to run a stock '02 3100 engine without EGR that doesn't require swapping out the fuel injectors.
I've heard that the 1227727/7730 from manual xmission vehicles are easily reprogrammed, but want to make sure there it's easy to do without spending a lot of cash on re-tuning. If there's a lot of tuning involved, I'd rather do a Megasquirt (I'm a cheap bastard too!)
