    2000 Malibu 3.1 into 1998 Monte Carlo

I have a '00 3.1 from a Malibu that I am intending to put into a '98 Monte Carlo to replace a locked up 3.1. Am I correct that I would need to use the intake, fuel rails, and plenum from the '98 on the '00 engine? I was hoping to just change over the plenum, but it looks like the ports are different on the two engines.

Is there anything else to be aware of?

    Thanks!

No keep the big port parts, its good you are replacing with 2000+ parts, you will gain a few hp.

Unfortunately, I did not get the plenum with this engine, so I need to swap out the parts from the '98.

Yeah, pre 2000 you will have a small port 3100 plenum. i believe it will still bolt on correctly, but will reduce volume of air.

You must change the injectors over as well as the FPR, or just swap the entire rail from the blown 3100, since they have the green top multec 1s and the 2000 has the multec 2s.

Not too much changed besides the heads, i would recommend getting a 3400/2000+ 3100 plenum.

You will notice a decent increase in powerm as the older 3100s were around 150 HP and the 2000+ were about 10-15 HP higher IIRC.
