89 into an 83 bird with a carb

Rookie here. I have an 83 bird with it's factory carb/intake and I'm wondering if that intake will bolt on an 89 2.8? I need to keep it simple right now. I know everyone will probably wonder why I wouldn't put the efi on the 83, but I need to get this car on the road asap. Got a chance to get a good running 89 2.6.

Looking at the V6 family tree I see the 3.1 was introduced in 89. Is the guy selling the 89 I'm refering to wrong? Was there a 2.8 in 89? Will my 83 intake fit the 3.1?

as long as you get a rwd motor your intake and carb will bolt on. you have your choice between a 2.8, 3.1l and 3.4l (93-95 camaro/firebird only)

Got my engine delievered and guess what - it has 2.8 right on the f.i. top. Guy that sold it musta been blind. But it was definately a rwd as the 5 speed was still attached. Thanks a ton.
