    new 3.6 to a 700r4

Hi everyone I am looking for info on what it would take to hook a newer 3.6 DOHC motor from a cts to a 700r4 from an older 4x4 2.8 s-series.

I know the bellhousing pattern is the same, but I am looking for info on flex plate , converter info.

    Thanks,

    Brad.

Just use a CTS flexplate and use a 700R4 converter.

the fwd to rwd flex plates may be different. as long as they retained the smae crank bolt pattern (i see no reason for them to change it) a rwd flexplate would do the trick, just make sure it doesnt have a big weight on it (externaly balanced), as the 3.6 is internally balanced.

The FWD and RWD diameters are different are they not? If you are keeping the 3.6L starter I think you need to use the FWD flexplate.

There is nothing fancy about a flexplate. The just provide the starting ring and a place for the torque converter to mount. If for some insane reason a RWD converter wont bolt up Im sure it would only cost a bit to re drill it.

thanks guys, I am searching for a trans currently then going after the 3.6.

I have found out that that crank bolt pattern is differnt than the old 2.8 pattern so I will have to figure it out as I go.
