I need to take some pictures of the engine installed...but until I get around to that here are a few things I have done to the jeep since I have installed the engine. First I painted it, then added some bigger tires.

here it is after I cut the fenders

then I got it ready for paint

      primer

      paint

I have not taken any straight on pics of the paint job, but I do have a few when I took it to the mountians last weeked so I will post those. Please let me know if you guys need a picture of something I have done. i am still in the process of looking for some fender flares that I can pop rivot on that are not as big or expensive as bushwackers.

The color that I decided to paint the jeep is John Deer Blitz Black. It is kinda a satin/flat black tractor paint. It is popular in the hot rod community. I painted my wheels flat red, and I need to re do them because I have had them balanced since then and I have bare spots from where weights used to be.

NICE! Glad to hear it's all finally working out for you. How is the power increase?

I'm not 100% sure my VSS is working right for the new ECU (using VSS integrated into Isuzu speedo), I'm still getting a CEL every time I drive. Do you have your CEL hooked up?

The power increase is nice, but it's not fast by any means but it no longer feels dangerous. Of course it was quicker when I had the 31x10.50's on. My new 32x10.50 swampers or super heavy!!

I do have my CEL hooked up, and it comes on when the ignition is switched on and then goes off when the jeep is cranked. So I guess its working correct, but I thought for sure I would have a constant CEL since I am running a cam with out a lobe for the cam sensor.

If you need help with a VSS for your set up Nevada Speedometer really knew what they were talking about so they may be able to help you out too.

Yeah, the tires will drag it down. But just imagine how it would have been with that 2.8L! I just got some brand new tires for mine, still need to get some pics. 31x10.5 BFG All Terrain T/A, on 15x7 alloys. I had some cheeaaaap Costco 31x10.5s on the stock 15x6 alloys before, these look way better on the wider rim. More grip too (had my old tires on there for about 7 years). I have an LSD to install, I drive almost entirely on the street so LSD is probably the best. But an Aussie locker would have been about the same price, hope I'm not kicking myself later.

the BFG's are the same tires I took off of mine. I am currently selling them for 200 for the set.

I have had the swampers for a few months now. They were my incentive to get the swap done. I knew the 2.8 would not move them...the 2.8 had issues moving the stock tires

I am trying to figure out fender flares. I have only found one set that look like what I want. Maybe you guys can shead some light on it. I want these flares or something like it. Ideas?

Might check some jeep forums for the flares. I think us Isuzu guys outnumber jeeps on this board, and I don't think there are many of us either.

I am not looking for anything jeep spacific. The picture I posted is of an old bronco. I want something fairly plain that can be pop rivoted at the top of the flare if does not need to be made to fit a jeep.

Now that the cold weather has hit, my Trooper is starting to stall sometimes between gears like you were describing. Revs always dipped really low since I got the vacuum leak fixed and the engine started idling right, sometimes too low. Pretty sure my VSS isn't correct for the ECU. Might just have to buy an in-line VSS like you did. Finally got a datalog cable so I'll be able to troubleshoot some of the little bugs.

Goodluck with that. I need to get a scanner that can read these ecm's...I just don't feel like paying for one right now since I already own a OBDII scanner....I should probably just go ahead and sell that one and get one that can read these ecm's too. Anyway, Nevada Speedometer was very helpful to me with figuring out the proper VSS.

Could you look at the Serv # when you get a chance? I'm also supposedly using a 5-speed Camaro ECM, but I'm starting to doubt that. Wondering if we have the same #. I'm swapping in a new computer soon so it doesn't REALLY matter, just a curiosity. I've been running my engine on this ECU for a year now...

I'll try to remember to do that tonight.

I also have an ecm out of a 91 or 92 5 speed cavilier with the 3.1 engine (Z31 or something, I forget what the model is called), I thinking about using it but I have no idea if I will ever get around to it. That ecm was recomended to me for tuning purposes.
